The Southern California Outboard Association is a 503(c) non-profit organization and member club of the American Power Boat Association (APBA). With the help of sponsors who enjoy racing and supporting family oriented activities, SCOA has been holding stock outboard races across Southern California since 1963, including many Nationals. SCOA started the Stock Winter Nationals and has held these many times. In addition to national awards, racing members of SCOA can earn club-awarded high points recognition in each class of Stock Outboard racing. Our emphasis is on family, teamwork and sportsmanship. It is not uncommon to have two, three, or even four generations spending the weekend together, sharing both parts and meals with other families and race teams.

The APBA is a national organization and the U.S. governing body for powerboat racing as authorized by the UIM (Union Internationale Motonautique). The APBA sanctions over 150 races nationally each year and is the only way to set UIM recognized records, earn nationally recognized points and win National or World Championships. The APBA ensures safety rule and provides insurance for all sanctioned races. All drivers in a sanctioned race must be APBA members, as well as being members of a local club such as SCOA.
